BG's Bollywood fesitval set to conjure up the spice of India! On Saturday 13th March, BG will be hosting a Bollywood festival - incorporating a rare screening of a Bollywood film, Indian music, the famous Bollywood dancers from Solihull, henna tattooists and, of course, wonderful Indian food - an event not to be missed.
The film being screened is the Bollywood hit 'Love Aaj Kal', (in association with Lincoln Film Association). The title translates as 'Love Nowadays', and features Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles and tells the story of the feeling of pure love which never changes over time. This screening will give a rare chance to see an authentic Bollywood film in Lincolnshire.
Jasmit Phull, BG Governor: "Indian Films are loved by UK audiences and having the Bollywood Event last year at Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln was a huge success. Bollywood movies have played a great role in my life and I still find them one of the best forms of entertainment. I would encourage everyone to give it a try and share my passion and attend the Bollywood Event this year"
The event starts with afternoon tea and cakes in the newly refurbished Bishop Greaves Theatre Foyer Bar, followed by the film screening. Afterwards, guests will be invited to a drink reception and an authentic Indian meal, accompanied by displays of Indian music and entertainment.
All proceeds from this event will go towards supporting the work of the BG Generations Foundation Fund, which helps fund voluntary student projects in India such as working in orphanages and schools. BG has growing international links with India and other countries and each year our Geography and Theology students participate in international field trips, helping them gain a greater understanding of the world about us.
During the evening there will be short presentations from representatives from Lincs with India and Project India to demonstrate the work they undertake in the southern region of Tamil Nadu.
Ticket Prices for the event are as follows:
£3 - Film Only, £30 - Dinner Only, £32 - Both events, £216 for a table of eight
